FAQ

Is sharing therapy sessions Publicly legal?

Yes, individuals may consent to have their therapy sessions recorded and shared as they please. All Crain sessions are recorded and shared with the consent of clients and therapists.

Is sharing therapy sessions Publicly Ethical?

We believe so and wouldn't be doing what we’re doing if it wasn’t ethical. We have spoken with dozens of therapists about this topic and the vast majority believe that doing so is ethical, and that sharing therapy sessions can be beneficial in a number of ways.  But, they caution that it’s all about the execution. We understand that there will always be mental health professionals and others that are critical of Crain’s concept. Crain is committed to continually reexamine what we’re doing and how we’re doing it in order to operate as ethically as possible.

Do clients and therapists know that they are being recorded?

Of course. All clients and therapists have elected to have their therapy sessions recorded for the purpose of having those sessions shared through Crain.

Are clients and Therapists compensated for their participation?

You bet. Clients receive free therapy in exchange for their participation. Therapists receive financial compensation via a revenue share program with guaranteed minimums.

Is Crain a replacement for Therapy?

We’re not positioning Crain as a replacement for therapy. But, we think that it can be a valuable tool to learn about therapy and be a valuable resource for those who don’t have access to therapy. This includes those that don’t have access to therapy for various reasons, those that do but want more and for those who have stigma around attending therapy.

Is the benefit of listening to the Therapy of others backed by scientific evidence ?

Not yet. We have not been able to find any studies exploring the question of whether or not listening to the therapy of others can be beneficial for mental health. We look to explore this question as we grow.
