We’re on a mission to help 4.6 million first responders combat stress and reduce burnout.
How? Through a supportive, anonymous peer community and on-demand mental health resources designed for busy lives.
What is Crain?
Not everyone is comfortable going to therapy to get the help they need to change their life for the better.
With the Crain app, you can receive peer support from those who know the job best — fellow first responders. Our community is anonymous, meaning nobody shares their real name or where they work, so you can chat in confidence.
Plus, we bring in mental health experts and first responder licensed counselors who offer mental health modules and relaxation exercises so you can relax and de-stress.
Who is Crain for?
Crain is for first responders who want to better their mental well-being with evidence-based mental health resources.
Join a supportive, anonymous group of your fellow first responders who connect online in our confidential community discussion boards. Talk about your struggles, share your solutions and find new resources to heal — together.
We’re in beta now so joining is free! Eventually, for every subscription purchased on Crain, we’ll offer one to a first responder in need.
Our Vision
We’re passionate about improving the mental health of those who put their lives on the line.
Did you know that…
30% of first responders develop behavioral health conditions including depression and PTSD, as compared with 20% in the general population. (SAMHSA.gov)
69% of EMS professionals never have enough time to recover between traumatic events. (SAMHSA.gov)
Over 50% of firefighter deaths are due to stress and exhaustion. (SAMHSA.gov)
Police and firefighters are more likely to die by suicide than in the line of duty, according to a Ruderman White Paper on Mental Health and Suicide of First Responders.
Unfortunately, there are many barriers to receiving quality mental health care, including cost, navigating insurance, stigma and fear of employer retaliation. Because demand for therapy is high, it can be difficult to get on a therapist’s schedule.
That’s where Crain comes in.
